How the church helps people
find and follow Jesus.
Every church has the same mission, to help people find and follow Jesus, but each church is uniquely equipped and positioned to carry out the mission in different ways. I've spent almost 10 years providing leadership to a variety of contexts. Whether it's a church of small groups or a church with small groups, having a clear, articulate ministry philosophy is key to aligning the team around discipleship and outreach. I have been able to support group based models, ministry based models, and heavy event based models, all working towards the same goal, to make Jesus famous.
S2CON is a conference for ministry leaders across the nation. During my first year of ownership, we increased ticket sales by 25% to sell out due to marketing changes and ended with a $30k surplus. Guest speakers included Louie Giglio, Levi Lusko, Lisa Harper, Chris Hodges, and more. Other conferences include Legacy Men's Conference, ReMix Women's Conference twice per year that would see over 1,000 women attend, Phoenix Youth Con for Students, and more.
Harvest Festival each year would draw more than 10k people in attendance. This $45k event would be for one day only, focused on the family, with a bring back for the following weekend services. My last Harvest Festival event allowed us to see an increase in our Kids attendance the following weekend by over 100 across each age group. This is one of many outreach events designed to connect with the community and invite them to connect with the church.
Launching ministries is a great way to gather people together who are not connected to the church. I was able to launch a Marriage Ministry in 2023, resulting in 240 couples spending months deepening their relationships while also raising up leaders from within that group to continue the ministry. Launching Young Adult ministries, Younique Life Coaching ministries, addiction based ministries such as Celebrate Recovery, and many others provide unique places for those who are not connected to get connected depending on their age and stage.
The teaching series calendar drives so much of the life of the church. One strategy when developing the sermon calendar is to place topical series just after Easter and as the school calendar begins after the summer break, covering issues that are important to people even if they don't know Jesus today. Developing an external marketing strategy for these series would allow us to see an attendance increase during the first weeks of over 20%. From there, you can provide multiple ways to connect to secondary spaces, increasing retention and engagement of your church.
While the weekend experience is meaning and impactful for church families, we know there is a need to dig deeper into God's word that extends past the weekend. Home groups, men's studies, and women's studies are great ways for people to connect with others and with God. I have been able to lead an exegetical study as a midweek service, seeing hundreds in attendance as we worked verse by verse, book by book through the Bible.
Christmas and Easter are special times of the year and a special part of the church calendar. There are so many families who will come to experience Christmas or Easter at your church that would have never visited at any other time in the year. Leveraging these big days to reach as many people as possible with a compelling invitation to Jesus and back to your church is critical. Through experience planning and marketing strategies, I have been able to provide leadership for Christmas and Easter events that saw more than 12k people over multiple services.
